In response to several executive departures, the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB) has made a series of senior leadership appointments and has created two new roles.
James Dalton has been tapped to serve as chief services officer, to help make a “stronger alignment between the MIB’s services and the needs of the insurance industry,” a release said. Dalton joins the MIB from the ABI where he served as director of general insurance policy.
In addition, it has appointed Kjirste Coltham as chief information officer, to lead the organization through its next phase of technical developments, products, and change programmes. Coltham previously served as director of IT solution delivery at Ageas UK.
Chris Makomereh also joins the MIB, to serve as its new chief risk officer – a newly created role established in recognition of the increasingly vital role of risk management and the need for the MIB to explore the regulatory environment. Makomereh most recently served as head of risk at Pacific Life Re.
The three are set to join the MIB by the end of 2022 and will sit on the executive team, reporting to CEO Dominic Clayden. Their appointments also come as change director Paula Gowland left the organisation in the summer, on top of chief customer officer Ben Fletcher and chief technology officer Paul Jackman announcing their own departures.
“Both Ben and Paul have made a significant and lasting contribution to the MIB over the years,” said Dominic Clayden. “Over the last 12 months, they both expressed a desire for a fresh new challenge and we respect that. We’re sad to see them go, but we wish them the very best in their exciting new roles.”
Clayden explained that the departures of the three gave MIB the opportunity to “completely rethink the type of executive leadership function [it wants] for the future.”
“We exist to champion, challenge and connect the industry to create a safer world, and we’re really excited that these roles will help us achieve that,” the CEO prefaced.
In addition to the three appointments, the MIB has created another new role: a chief claims officer position. According to the MIB, the new role was established “in order to provide dedicated focus on managing and evolving the MIB’s largest operation;” its claims function. The organisation plans to recruit for the role in 2023.
