Howden Re has announced the opening of its new office in Taiwan, marking its expansion across Asia. The Taiwan facility will specialize in treaty reinsurance and offer local customers greater access to expertise and resources.
Jimmy Tsai will join as managing director in June to lead the office. Tsai has more than 15 years of experience in the Taiwanese and Asian reinsurance markets.
"I am delighted to welcome Jimmy to the business and look forward to him joining in June," Andy Souter, managing director and head of Asia-Pacific at Howden Re, said in a statement.
"The strength and depth of the team we have and the calibre of the talent we continue to attract is testament to Howden’s differentiated and innovative approach to working together to serve our clients."
The new office will be complemented by Howden Group's wide range of resources, such as regional reinsurance and analytics capabilities. Emily Lo, newly appointed as head of analytics for Howden Re Asia, will also be involved in the initiative.
“Expanding in Asia-Pacific is a strategic priority for Howden Re’s international development, as we continue to build a market-leading reinsurance platform and team," Souter said.
Howden Group ranked 11th in Best's Review's Top 20 brokers. With $3 billion in revenue for 2023, the company has been focusing on organic growth across Europe and Asia-Pacific. The opening of the Taiwan office raises its global presence to 55 countries.
