The Centre for Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO) has awarded Wawanesa Insurance the Application Programming Interface (API) Security Standards Certification, confirming the insurer’s adherence to CSIO’s rigorous standards for data confidentiality and API endpoint security.

CSIO developed the API Security Standards in collaboration with insurers and broker management system (BMS) vendors, offering a framework for secure API authentication and authorization.

Through the certification, Wawanesa has validated that its API endpoints meet all necessary security protocols, enabling brokers to trust in the safety of their data during API interactions.

Cam Muckosky (pictured), vice president of digital delivery at Wawanesa, commented: “As Wawanesa continues to make investments to meet the ever-evolving needs of our brokers, providing comprehensive security measures is critical to solidifying our position as a technology leader within the insurance industry.

“We’re proud to support CSIO’s mandate, with this API Security Certification a clear testament to our commitment to shaping the standards for industry connectivity.”

Catherine Smola, president and chief executive at CSIO, added that the certification reflects Wawanesa’s commitment to safe and robust data exchange services.

“With increasingly digitized operations, API Security Standards build broker confidence that their data is safeguarded at all times, ensuring a secure and streamlined business environment,” declared Smola.
