Saskatchewan Blue Cross is continuing its support for rural healthcare by offering funding to hospital foundations through its Community Investment Program. The program aims to support small projects and equipment purchases that enhance patient care in rural hospitals across the province.
In 2024, Saskatchewan Blue Cross provided more than $34,000 in funding to rural hospitals. The contributions helped purchase items such as a pediatric emergency crash cart, wheelchairs, a pediatric bed, and a patient-lifting tool. The funding has allowed hospitals to enhance their emergency capabilities, improve patient accessibility, and increase comfort.
Hospital foundations may apply until June 30, 2025, to be eligible for the program.
"Investing in rural healthcare is essential to ensuring that individuals across Saskatchewan have access to the care they need," said Kelly Wilson, president and CEO of Saskatchewan Blue Cross. "These grants help support healthcare workers and patients by ensuring hospitals have the necessary equipment to provide high-quality care close to home."
“We are deeply grateful to Saskatchewan Blue Cross for their generous support of rural hospital foundations,” said Lecina Hicke, chair of the Network of Saskatchewan Hospital and Health Care Foundations. “Their commitment to equitable funding across our province not only acknowledges the vital role of rural hospitals but also strengthens the health and resilience of the communities they serve.”
Saskatchewan Blue Cross has been a provider of health and wellness solutions for over 75 years, offering coverage to individuals, businesses and organizations across the province.
