Ecclesiastical Canada opens applications for Community Impact Grant

Non-Profits & Charities

Applications for Ecclesiastical Insurance’s 2024 Community Impact Grant in Canada are now open to eligible charities.

A grant program dedicated to supporting charities and non-profits in the country, the Community Impact Grant is open to registered Canadian charities (as defined by the Canada Revenue Agency) that can provide a charitable tax receipt for the grant amount.

Additionally, the grant must be used to fund a specific charitable program being run in Canada that is sustainable beyond the grant period.

“We welcome applications from registered Canadian charities with a mission that aligns with Ecclesiastical’s values and deeply rooted commitment to helping those in need and supporting our communities to thrive,” said the insurer, which is part of the Benefact Group.

Last year, 19 charities benefited from the grant program.

Ecclesiastical said: “The Community Impact Grant is our signature Canadian giving program. Our various giving streams are designed to help charities make a positive and sustained impact in their communities. These grants are administered under the auspices of our charitable owner, Benefact Trust.

“From 2017 to the end of 2024 Ecclesiastical will have distributed over 500 charitable grants totalling $5 million to charities both large and small in support of transformational services that help communities across Canada to thrive.”

Awarded grants range in size, with the typical amount somewhere between $10,000 and $25,000. It said larger grants may be considered depending on the program and its demonstrated need.

For 2024, Ecclesiastical is giving a special focus to charities with programs dedicated to environmental conservation with a human impact; food security; and supporting vulnerable youth, families, and seniors.

Grant applications for this year’s program will be accepted until August 29.
