Canada Life, IGM Financial, and the Power Corporation of Canada have jointly pledged $250,000 to provide humanitarian aid in response to violence and civilian suffering in Israel, Gaza, and the broader Middle East.
The funds will be directed toward meeting the most pressing humanitarian needs in the region, including food, clean water, shelter, emergency medical assistance, and healthcare services.
The donation will be divided among the Canadian Red Cross Middle East Humanitarian Crisis Appeal, Doctors Without Borders, Toronto-based United Jewish Appeal, and Montreal-based Federation CJA.
Canada Life and IGM Financial are members of the Power Corporation of Canada group of companies. A statement released by the three firms urged the public to support relief efforts and donate to the organizations above.
“Those wishing to help support relief efforts are encouraged to donate to these organizations that are helping alleviate suffering and providing aid to the families and individuals impacted by this conflict,” their statement said.
Earlier this year, Canada Life invested $500,000 to support the development of an Indigenous-led student mentorship program. This initiative will launch next year across all RRC Polytech programs and campuses.
