The Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company has named Sherre Newell the new vice president of its operations in Alberta.
Newell will lead a team of more than 600 local insurance professionals in this role. She will also collaborate with Wawanesa’s broker partners in the province.
“We want to continue to improve the services we provide to our members and brokers in Alberta, and I know Sherre is the leader in making that happen,” said Graham Haigh, Wawanesa’s chief operations officer – West.
“Sherre brings over 30 years of insurance experience and has tremendous local expertise in her home province of Alberta.”
News of Wawanesa’s latest appointment comes as it continues to deliver new services and products across Canada. It recently launched a digital tool enabling instantaneous insurance quoting and binding for nearly 100 types of small businesses.
Other recent changes include a new app-based telematics program to improve road safety and reward responsible driving habits.
Wawanesa also launched an ad campaign in Ontario and moved its Winnipeg headquarters to True North Square. Within Alberta, it opened a new office in downtown Calgary.
