QBE Canada has introduced new leaders into its executive ranks as it plans to strengthen its operations, according to a press release.
The current underwriting manager for financial lines and cyber, Scott Pidduck, will now be taking on the position of director of underwriting, taking over from Valerie Jobson, who will retire at the end of 2018. Darren Goldman, the former claims manager for QBE Canada, has meanwhile been appointed general manager for Canada and will oversee claims, operations, and finance.
Finally, Richard Newman will be the new underwriting manager for casualty and automobile. The promotion is important for the insurer in deepening relationships with its customers and working in partnership with brokers, many of whom are looking for a single market solution for general liability risks, read the release.
Earlier this year, QBE Canada also took on a new director of Canada with Jamie Thompson, who has oversight of QBE’s Canadian customers in the role, including those purchasing insurance from QBE’s Lloyd’s operation. Thompson wasn’t new to the insurer, working for QBE in the Lloyd’s marketplace for a majority of his career. He also worked as a senior underwriter for QBE in Canada from 2010 to 2015.
“QBE Canada has experienced positive growth over the past eight years in large part due to a keen focus on customers’ needs. I am making these new appointments to ensure we continue this approach, further deepening customer relationships and support for our brokers,” said Thompson in the press release.
“Our focus will remain on developing long term partnerships with our customers and broking partners, supporting them as their insurance needs evolve. We are committed to ensuring customers receive market leading service and remain impartial as to where they secure their insurance, whether it be with QBE’s operations in Lloyd’s or in Canada.”
