In a move to strengthen its presence in Ontario and Atlantic Canada, Acera Insurance has appointed Joseph Carnevale (pictured) as regional president for Eastern Canada.
Carnevale brings 20 years of experience in the property and casualty sector, most recently serving as area president for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) at Gallagher.
"Joseph is a proven leader who has demonstrated remarkable success throughout his career in driving significant growth," said Andrew Kemp, executive vice president of property and casualty.
The appointment is part of the company's focus on expanding its Eastern Canadian operations.
Carnevale's extensive industry involvement includes leadership roles with key insurance associations. He has served on multiple boards, including the Centre for Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO), Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC), and notably served as president of the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) for three terms.
"I am excited to join a truly Canadian and employee-controlled organization," Carnevale commented. He highlighted Acera's dedication to working in the best interests of its clients and employees.
Concurrent with the leadership appointment, Acera entered the Saskatchewan market through a partnership with BMA Group in January, a Saskatoon-based employee benefits and group retirement savings advisory firm.
The partnership, effective December 1, 2024, represents the company's ninth collaboration in the year.
The Saskatchewan market entry enables Acera's specialty division, Acera Benefits, to serve businesses across the province. BMA Group will transition to operate under the Acera Benefits name, supporting the company's expansion strategy.
Acera Insurance is one of the largest independent, employee-controlled brokerages in Canada. With 1,300 employees across 70 offices, $1.4 billion in gross written premiums, and over 680 employee-owners, the company intends to expand its national footprint.
