American International Group has announced the election of James (Jimmy) Dunne III (pictured above) as an independent director on its board of directors, effective Dec. 1.
Dunne serves as vice chairman and senior managing principal of Piper Sandlet, an investment bank and financial services company. He co-founded Sandler O’Neill & Partners, which was acquired by Piper Jaffray in 2020. Under Dunne’s leadership, Sandler became the largest independent, full-service banking firm focused on the financial services industry.
Dunne is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and a member of its board of trustees. He is also a member of the board of Chime Financial and the PGA Tour Policy Board.
“We are delighted to have someone of Jimmy’s calibre join the AIG board,” said Peter Zaffino, chairman and CEO of AIG. “I have great respect for his exceptional financial and investment acumen and extensive experience in advising on significant and complex matters. His unique perspective will be invaluable to AIG and our stakeholders as we execute on our strategy.”
“Jimmy brings broad financial services expertise, deep executive leadership experience and a demonstrated commitment to giving back to his communities,” said John Rice, lead independent director at AIG. “I look forward to welcoming him to the board and value his insights as AIG continues its journey to becoming a top-performing company.”
“I have known Peter for decades and have always admired his tremendous leadership abilities,” Dunne said. “He has built a terrific team at AIG, and I couldn’t be more excited to join the board of directors.”
AIG also recently announced the appointment of Rose Marie Glazer as general counsel. The company also recently published its earnings report for the third quarter of 2023.
