MDA National (MDAN), a prominent medical defence organisation supporting over 50,000 healthcare practitioners across Australia, has selected Duck Creek Technologies to modernise its policy administration, billing, and analytics functions.
The move – which follows the launch of Duck Creek’s new policy administration solution – represents a shift by MDAN to a more agile, cloud-based system that aims to improve efficiency and enhance support for members.
The adoption of Duck Creek’s OnDemand platform will replace MDAN’s legacy system, enabling more flexible policy management, improved data insights, and automation that is intended to increase operational efficiency.
The platform’s capabilities are expected to support MDAN’s strategic goals to provide a better self-service experience for members, streamline internal processes, and improve data-driven risk management.
MDAN cited Duck Creek’s track record in the medical indemnity and general insurance sectors as a key factor in its selection, noting the system’s modular, customisable design that allows for efficient scalability.
It noted that Duck Creek’s solutions are built to facilitate user-friendly configurations and offer reusable components that suit evolving organisational needs, aligning with the organisation’s goals to enhance member services in a sustainable manner.
Ian Anderson, chief executive officer of MDA National, said the partnership with Duck Creek represents a significant transformation in the company’s technological capabilities, allowing it to further its mission to support and protect members.
“Transforming our technological capability through our partnership with Duck Creek will significantly enhance our ability to deliver on our purpose of supporting and protecting members while promoting good medical practice, leading to a successful and sustainable future,” he said.
He said that the program provides the company with the agility to develop new services that address members’ changing needs and access enhanced data to proactively manage risks. Increased automation will also help keep costs manageable for its members, allowing the MDAN team to focus on delivering personalised care.
Christian Erickson, managing director of APAC at Duck Creek Technologies, underscored the alignment between the companies’ goals in the medical indemnity market.
“We look forward to being a strategic technology partner to MDAN as they deliver new and innovative offerings that meet and surpass the evolving needs of Australia’s medical professionals,” he said.
