Global insurance distribution platform Cover Genius has appointed Richard Hankin as head of retail partnerships for the Asia-Pacific region.

In his new role, Hankin will oversee the insurtech’s new and existing retail partnerships throughout the Asia-Pacific region to provide insurance to the world’s largest ecommerce brands within the growing insurtech industry.

Hankin brings with him a wealth of knowledge in the industry as well as opportunities for strategic partnerships, most recently as head of commercial partnerships at eBay Australia and New Zealand. He has experience leading teams that have partnered with 80 of the top 100 retailers including Bunnings, Coles, Microsoft, and Dan Murphys, as well as managing key strategic partnerships with Google and Shopify.

Hankin “is a great addition to our expanding team, especially as we look to further cultivate new partnerships within the retail sector,” said Angus McDonald, CEO and co-founder at Cover Genius. “His appointment represents our commitment to changing the way people think about the value of insurance while helping retailers to remain competitive and provide outstanding customer experiences.”

Hankin’s appointment follows several senior hires in recent months to meet the growth in demand for insurtech, including Peter Phillips as chief technology officer, Chris Toft as head of insurance for APAC, and Justin Turner as head of strategic partnerships for logistics.
