Marshall Diel & Myers Limited, a prominent law firm in Bermuda, has announced key leadership promotions. Katie Tornari, a reinsurance litigation lawyer, has been appointed managing director, while Christina Herrero, a fellow litigator, has been promoted to director.
The law firm, which has a total of 19 lawyers and a team of 39 professionals, boasts that 82% of its workforce is Bermudian. According to the firm’s statement, the appointments highlight their commitment to fostering local talent and providing high-quality legal services.
According to The Royal Gazette, Tornari brings over 23 years of experience in commercial litigation to her new role, with a focus on complex, high-value, and cross-jurisdictional commercial disputes and insolvencies. Her expertise extends to insurance and reinsurance disputes, and she regularly handles cases involving trusts, financial institutions, funds, professional negligence, directors and shareholders, employment, personal injury, and medical negligence.
Herrero, meanwhile, who advises both domestic and international clients on civil and commercial litigation, including insolvencies, employment, and human rights law, is also the chair of the Human Rights Tribunal. Following her promotion, she shared her enthusiasm about her new role, saying: “MDM is committed to training, developing, and recruiting Bermudian lawyers like myself and supporting Bermudian law students in their studies.”
She added that there are exciting plans following my promotion to director: “We are also keen to help qualified Bermudian lawyers practising abroad to come back to the island. The firm has plans for further growth in our key practice areas over the coming year.”
On her colleague’s promotion, Tornari remarked: “Tina’s promotion is well deserved and a reflection of her hard work and dedication. She is an exceptional lawyer and a trusted adviser to her clients.” She further emphasized the firm’s commitment to training and developing the next generation of Bermudian lawyers, stating: “We are committed to recruiting, training, and developing the next generation of Bermudian lawyers and training our juniors to become future leaders of our firm.”
