Specialist insurance and reinsurance broker Miller has announced the appointment of Konatsu Watanabe (pictured) as a broker in its Singapore-based property and casualty team. Watanabe brings over eight years of experience in the insurance industry to her new role.

Watanabe’s expertise includes facultative placements with a focus on Japanese business across Asia. Before joining Miller, she held positions at UIB Asia Reinsurance Brokers in Singapore, where she served as associate director, and Tokio Marine Insurance Group, where she worked as assistant client manager.

Earlier in her career, she gained experience as a sales executive at Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Insurance in Tokyo.

In addition to her professional experience, Watanabe has managed corporate employee benefit programs and holds certifications in commercial general insurance and personal general insurance from the Singapore College of Insurance, obtained in 2023.

Watanabe’s educational background includes a bachelor of laws in political science from Keio University in Japan and an exchange program in sociology at Queen's University in Canada.

Miller stated that Watanabe’s appointment aligns with its strategic objective to expand its offerings in Asia. The company noted that her experience and knowledge will support its growth in the region’s P&C market.

Earlier this month, the re/insurance brokerage announced the appointments of Amanda Armitage and Scott Gorman as part of its growth strategy in professional & financial lines.

Armitage joins Miller’s international professions team as business development manager, bringing more than 15 years of industry experience, particularly in professional indemnity.

Gorman, who has also built a career in professional indemnity, will lead Miller's UK and international PI wholesale team. Previously with Price Forbes (formerly MGB Insurance Brokers), Gorman led its new business division, and his background includes work as an underwriter at Wimsure Underwriting and a role within Towergate’s financial risks team.
