Independent global specialty re/insurer broker McGill and Partners has appointed Andre du Preez as its head of emerging technology.

In this role, du Preez will contribute to advancing the firm's digital-first strategy by integrating emerging technologies and promoting innovation.

Du Preez brings experience in developing and implementing machine learning applications, which McGill and Partners expects will enhance its offerings to clients. His focus will be on driving technological advancements and fostering a creative environment to ensure the firm maintains its position in the evolving insurance market.

He joins McGill and Partners from Miller, where he led innovation initiatives as head of innovation. At Miller, he focused on artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies to create digital solutions for the insurance sector.

He also has experience developing digital products at Miller and Vitality, and he previously worked in business consultancy in London and Johannesburg.

Simon Bradbury, chief technology officer at McGill and Partners, highlighted du Preez’s expertise in leveraging advanced technologies.

“His extensive experience in pioneering advanced technology will be a tremendous asset as we drive innovation and explore new technical opportunities. We are excited to have him join our team and look forward to the impact he will have alongside our exceptional group of experts,” Bradbury said.

Du Preez expressed enthusiasm about joining McGill and Partners, citing the firm's digital-first strategy and lack of legacy systems as key factors.

“This forward-thinking approach unlocks endless possibilities, and I’m excited to contribute to it. By staying ahead of emerging trends, I’m eager to help develop innovative strategies and solutions that enhance client value, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen McGill and Partners’ competitive edge,” du Preez said.
