Casualty insurance-linked securities (ILS) platform Ledger Investing has announced that Amy Stern (pictured above) has joined the company as chief executive, reinsurance.

Stern, who holds CPCU and ARe designations, brings over 25 years of experience in reinsurance as a buyer, seller, and broker. Her appointment comes as Ledger nears $2 billion in casualty premium placed with its insurance-linked securities (ILS) investors.

Stern's career includes senior positions at Pie Insurance, where she was SVP, risk & reinsurance from August 2022 to April 2023, and VP, reinsurance and capital solutions from July 2021 to April 2023. Prior to that, she was managing director at FTI Consulting, focusing on re/insurance disputes, expert testimony, and capital consulting.

She also founded ReFlexion LLC, providing bespoke consulting services in portfolio reviews, reinsurance structuring, and third-party capital deployment. Her tenure at AIG as chief ceded reinsurance officer spanned over five years, and she held senior roles at Berkley Re America and Willis Re.

Stern's early career included positions at Partner Reinsurance and Zurich Reinsurance Company, where she gained extensive experience in group and new solutions reinsurance.

Based in New York, Ledger is a marketplace for casualty insurance-linked securities. Asset managers, pension funds, hedge funds, family offices, and other institutions can invest in uncorrelated assets that offer incremental returns compared to traditional high-yield fixed-income securities. The company uses proprietary software and data analytics to cover various insurance risk portfolios.
