Hamilton Global Specialty has announced the appointment of Niamh O’Brien (pictured) as its new chief actuary.
Speaking on O’Brien’s appointment, group chief risk officer Alex Baker shared how the firm will benefit from her extensive skills, which she has garnered from decades of experience in the industry.
“We are thrilled to appoint Niamh to chief actuary at Hamilton Global Specialty. Her exceptional skills and extensive experience with our company will significantly enhance our actuarial capabilities and support our strategic objectives,” said Baker.
With O’Brien’s appointment coming into effect on June 1, she has been reporting to Hamilton Insurance Group’s group chief actuary Wilfred Chin.
“The combined talent and leadership of Niamh and Wilfred, along with our dedicated actuarial team, will undoubtedly drive our actuarial function to new heights,” said Baker.
O’Brien first joined Hamilton in 2021 and had led its key actuarial reserving activity as well as providing advisory support as one of its actuarial consultants. She also held senior actuarial roles over the past 20 years in firms such as Caitlin, Hiscox, W.R. Berkley, and Tokio Marine Kiln.
O’Brien’s new role as chief actuary comes on the back of a string of appointments which have seen Hamilton name Ross Reynolds as the new chief executive officer of Hamilton Insurance DAC, Bradley E. Cooper as a member of Hamilton Insurance Group’s board of directors, and Chin in his new position.
Hamilton Global Specialty is one of the underwriting platforms of Hamilton Insurance Group, with the others being Hamilton Select and Hamilton Re. Hamilton Insurance Group is a specialty insurance and reinsurance firm which underwrites risks on a global basis.
Hamilton also recently announced that it will be reporting its financial results for the second quarter of 2024 on August 7.
