Chaucer Group has appointed Ivan Sit (pictured above), a seasoned professional in the Asian marine insurance market, to spearhead the company's regional marine insurance operations through its Lloyd’s Singapore platform.

Sit, who brings over 25 years of industry experience across senior roles in insurance, reinsurance, and major brokerage firms, will lead Chaucer’s new marine offering in the Asia-Pacific region.

Sit will report to Margaret To, CEO of Chaucer Singapore, winner of Elite Women in ReInsurance, and Simon Schnorr, Chaucer’s head of marine and energy.

Schnorr noted that marine insurance remains a core business for Chaucer, adding that Sit’s expertise and established relationships with clients, brokers, and carriers across Asia-Pacific would serve Chaucer’s interests well.

“Chaucer brings many of its market leading insurance and reinsurance classes to the APAC region through the Lloyd’s Singapore platform. Ivan’s leadership in Singapore will be key to helping Chaucer build on this success,” To said.

“I’m very excited to be joining a marine team with as strong a reputation as Chaucer’s. I look forward to working with Simon and Margaret – and helping to grow Chaucer’s footprint in the marine segment” Sit said.

Last month, the global specialty re/insurance group also announced the appointment of Nicola Miles as class underwriter for ports and terminals.

Miles brings over 20 years of experience in the marine insurance sector, having held significant roles at major insurers, including AIG and Navigators Insurance Company, where she worked as senior marine liability underwriter.

In addition to her underwriting experience, Miles also worked as a consultant for the Chartered Insurance Institute, contributing to the development of professional assessments, including ACII modules on marine cargo and risk management.
