Lockton Re has announced the addition of Andy Wakefield to its marine and energy division as a senior broker.
First announced earlier this year, Wakefield’s appointment brings 34 years of experience in marine and energy reinsurance broking to the firm, further enhancing Lockton Re’s capabilities in this specialty area.
Wakefield's career spans multiple leadership roles across major reinsurance firms. Before joining Lockton Re in November, he served as senior marine and energy broker at Aon for three years.
Prior to that, he held the position of managing director at Ed. Broking from 2017 to 2021 and Executive Director at Willis Re for nearly seven years. His earlier career included broking roles at Aon Benfield and Tysers, with responsibilities ranging from client management to business production across Lloyd’s, Europe, Scandinavia, and South Africa.
Martin Stephenson, head of marine and energy at Lockton Re, commented on Wakefield’s appointment.
“Andy is an excellent hire for Lockton Re and a great fit for our exciting culture and dynamic way of working. He has a great reputation in the Marine & Energy reinsurance market and the team are really looking forward to working with him as we continue to go from strength to strength,” Stephenson said in a LinkedIn post.
The move aligns with Lockton Re’s strategy to expand its talent pool to meet the growing demands of its client base. According to Stephenson, the company is focusing on hand-selecting talent that complements its emphasis on clients, markets, and colleagues.
"Our client base continues to expand, so we are growing the depth and breadth of our capability by hand selecting talent to fit with our true focus on clients, markets, and colleagues,” Stephenson said.
Last month, the reinsurance broker announced the appointment of Srikanta Nandy as its chief platform officer, based in New York.
With 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, Nandy brings deep expertise in global platform delivery, enterprise data management, and placement data analytics.
