HDI Global has named Nathan Jones as Australia as property and mining underwriting manager, western region, based in Perth.
Jones has worked in the Western Australian insurance market for nearly three decades, having held roles focused on underwriting, portfolio management, and risk engineering, HDI said in a press release.
His previous roles also saw him serving the mining sector. The underwriting manager joined HDI from Suncorp Group, according to LinkedIn.
David Gibbs, underwriting manager for WA, said Jones’ experience and technical expertise in the general property and mining space makes him the “ideal person” to lead the company’s property team in the region.
“I am delighted to have Nathan as part of the WA leadership team, and have no doubt that he will be instrumental in driving our property strategy and taking the portfolio to even greater heights,” Gibbs said.
While leading the WA property team, the property underwriter will also work closely with Abishesh Chettiar, HDI Global’s mining practice leader for Australasia.
Jones and Gibbs in WA and Chettiar in the Brisbane office will all seek to grow and develop the insurance company’s mining portfolio in the western region, a “big focus” for HDI over the coming years, according to said Dale Graf, HDI property underwriting manager for Australasia.
“It’s terrific we’ve been able to hire such an experienced property and mining underwriting manager in Perth,” Graf said.
