Delta Insurance Australia has introduced a new range of accident and health (A&H) insurance products designed to provide coverage for employees, contractors, and volunteers across various industries.

The new A&H products aim to provide businesses with coverage options suited to these changing conditions.

The new offerings include:

  • Group personal accident and sickness
  • Individual personal accident
  • Overseas medical expenses
  • Business travel insurance

Tesh Patel, managing director of Delta Insurance Australia, said the insurer designed the new products to align with shifting workplace dynamics.

“Whether it’s safeguarding teams on the job or ensuring peace of mind during travel, our solutions are designed to promote security, resilience, and well-being,” he said.

He added that Delta’s group personal accident and sickness insurance is structured to be flexible, offering tailored coverage options for full-time employees, company directors, voluntary workers, and those requiring journey injury cover.

Market growth and industry outlook

The expansion comes as workforce structures continue to evolve, with hybrid work models, remote employment, and gig economy roles reshaping risk exposure.

It also coincides with projected growth in the Australian general insurance market. According to research firm GlobalData, the industry’s direct written premiums (DWP) are forecast to reach $146.9 billion by 2029, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.2%.

Personal accident and health (PA&H) insurance remains the largest segment in the general insurance market, accounting for 34.2% of total premiums in 2024. The sector saw 7.2% growth in that year, with private health insurance membership increasing amid rising healthcare costs.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics reported that medical expenses grew by 5.6% from January to September 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, while health insurance costs increased by 14%. These factors have contributed to continued expansion in the PA&H segment, which GlobalData projects will grow at a 4.5% CAGR from 2025 to 2029.

Delta Insurance Australia A&H leadership

Leading the development of the A&H portfolio is Sophie Wunsch (pictured), senior underwriter at Delta Insurance Australia.

Wunsch, who has two decades of experience in underwriting and broking, said the company’s approach aims to address gaps in existing A&H insurance policies.

“We know the A&H market in Australia is highly competitive, but we believe our point of difference lies in our agility, customer-centric approach, and ability to deliver truly tailored solutions,” she said.

She said that some traditional A&H policies leave businesses and individuals exposed to unanticipated risks. Delta’s focus, she said, is on flexibility, ensuring brokers can customise policies for SMEs and corporate clients without complex policy structures.
