SALT Marine Risks Australia, a marine underwriter and Lloyd's coverholder, has appointed Tia Poole as its new marine manager.

Poole has 15 years of industry experience in the Australian, New Zealand, Pacific, and Asian marine markets. She has held senior executive roles focusing on underwriting and broking.

Underwriting all lines in her new role, Poole said she is excited to “join the progressive team of SALT.”

“I'm looking forward to supporting brokers through the complexities of marine insurance and with my fellow underwriters, backed by Lloyd's capacity, to help provide the best possible options for our clients,” she added.

Andrew Black, head of marine at SALT, deemed Poole a true marine insurance professional.

“We are delighted she has chosen to become part of the SALT team as we continue to grow and expand our offering to the regional broker market,” he said. “I know brokers will benefit immensely from her knowledge and expertise.”

Since entering the market in 2015, SALT has worked closely with brokers to write business, including the underwriting of complex commercial marine risks, across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific.

Its business focuses on marine cargo (ocean marine and inland transits), marine liabilities, and commercial hulls across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific.
