TAL has named Gavin Teichner as the new chief executive of Individual Life, effective Oct. 1.
Teichner (pictured) is an actuary and holds an MBA from Kellogg School of Management.
Teichner joined TAL in 2009 and has held various senior positions. Since 2018, he has served as executive general manager of Individual Life, managing product development, underwriting, pricing, and data analytics.
“I am honoured to have the opportunity to lead a team of people focused on delivering high-quality and industry-leading products and services to our customers, financial advisers, and corporate partners,” Teichner said.
Teichner’s appointment comes after the announcement that Fiona Macgregor, the current chief executive of Individual Life, will assume the role of group CEO and managing director, also starting Oct. 1.
Macgregor joined TAL in 2014 and has held several senior roles, including chief executive of Individual Life. Her responsibilities have included overseeing TAL’s retail and direct-to-consumer businesses and managing partnerships with Suncorp and Westpac.
With over 20 years of experience in financial services, she has also worked at the Royal Bank of Scotland and as a consultant for major UK service brands. She holds an MA in Business Organisation from Heriot-Watt University and completed the INSEAD Advanced Management Program.
In her new position, Macgregor will focus on enhancing digital experiences for customers and partners while guiding TAL’s strategies in the life insurance and retirement sectors.
