MLC Life Insurance (MLC Life) has bolstered its executive team with the addition of Mirella Robinson in the newly created role of chief technology officer (CTO), effective February 26, 2024.
MLC Life CEO Kent Griffin emphasised the pivotal role of technology in realising the company’s strategic visions and welcomed Robinson’s expertise to the executive team.
“Mirella has a proven track record of delivering customer experience by building strong teams, driving innovation, agility, and performance in diverse and complex environments,” he said. “We’re pleased to have someone with her background and expertise joining MLC Life Insurance to help deliver on our strategy.”
Robinson (pictured) brings with her a wealth of experience from over 20 years across a spectrum of industries, including financial services, telecommunications, media, and retail energy.
Her move to MLC Life Insurance follows a tenure at Cbus as chief information and technology officer. There, she was described as instrumental in advancing its technology and data strategies, integrating machine learning and artificial intelligence practices, and steering through the complexities of fund mergers and system integrations.
“Throughout my career, I’ve focused on solving problems to help people,” she said. “Making sure customers are able to enjoy a great experience by accessing safe and simple systems is integral to the work of a CTO.”
In her role as CTO, Robinson is expected to lead initiatives to refine and advance MLC’s technological infrastructure, processes, and capabilities, aiming to deliver superior services to advisors, customers, superannuation funds, trustees, and members.
Commenting on her appointment, Robinson said: “MLC Life Insurance is one of Australia’s oldest and most trusted life insurers, and I’m excited to bring my experience to continue to improve an already excellent proposition for customers and partners.”
Robinson entered MLC Life following the appointment of a general manager of remediation programs.
