Medibank has rolled out its health insurance Extras option for young adults in Australia, dubbed Healthy Living Extras.
The new offering is designed to make private healthcare more accessible and affordable for the younger demographic, particularly those venturing into health insurance for the first time.
With a starting rate of $3.45 weekly, equating to an annual fee of $180, the Healthy Living Extras plan includes several key benefits. The pricing model is applicable for individual policyholders residing in New South Wales (NSW) with an annual income not exceeding $93,000, after applying a 24.608% rebate from the Australian Government.
Enrolees are entitled to one dental check-up and cleaning per year, a flu shot, unlimited access to emergency ambulance services, and 24/7 availability of Mental Health Phone Support alongside the Medibank Nurse Phone Service.
Subscribers to the plan also benefit from an array of Medibank customer advantages. Perks range from gym membership reductions, and savings on travel insurance, to participation in the Live Better Rewards scheme, which can yield rewards valued at up to $400 annually.
Medibank chief customer officer Milosh Milisavljevic reaffirmed the insurer’s commitment to offering valuable options to its clientele, with a focus on the younger population.
“Our Healthy Living Extras product has been designed to provide our younger customers with access to what they told us was important, such as low-cost preventative health services, particularly as more Australians are dealing with cost-of-living pressures,” he said. “Many young Australians get hospital cover when they turn 31 before the government’s Lifetime Health Cover loading kicks in, so this product is designed to give them a taste of the experience of having health cover as well as getting access to our most popular services that come with being a Medibank customer.”
In February, Medibank introduced an initiative to ease the burden of rising living costs and promote dental care.
