Perth is gearing up for the return of its largest fitness fundraising event, the HBF Run for a Reason, slated for May 19.
On its website, HBF confirmed that early bird registrations for the event are set to open in early 2024, with HBF members enjoying a 20% discount on entry fees. The organisers are also encouraging corporate teams to participate in the event.
Participants in the HBF Run for a Reason will have the option to choose from three distances:
“HBF Run for a Reason has a special place in the hearts of many West Australians,” said HBF CEO Dr Lachlan Henderson. “Since 2010, $11.3 million has been raised for hundreds of charities, many of which rely on these funds to support their operations.”
The Run for a Reason fundraising event returned in 2023 after a three-year hiatus, with participants raising $1.2 million. Over 33,000 individuals, including families with young children and babies in prams, as well as seasoned professional runners, participated in the event.
“It was fantastic to see more than 33,000 people take part [last year],” Henderson said. “We hope to top those numbers in 2024.”
In other news, HBF returned $110 million in COVID-19 savings to eligible members' bank accounts as part of its commitment to not profit from the pandemic.
