The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) will host its annual Group Life Seminar on Sept. 3 at the Sheraton Grand in Hyde Park, Sydney.
The seminar, accessible both in person and online, serves as a significant gathering for life insurance professionals to discuss industry trends, challenges, and potential developments.
The event will feature a range of discussions, including the effectiveness of health and wellbeing platforms in the life insurance sector and the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in fraud detection.
Heather Gray, lead ombudsman for superannuation at the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), is scheduled to present an analysis of recent data, emerging trends, and key themes within the life insurance sector.
ANZIIF CEO Katrina Shanks highlighted the seminar’s role in facilitating knowledge exchange and professional networking within the industry.
“The seminar allows our life insurance professionals to share knowledge and ideas, and connect with other professionals in the sector,” she said.
ANZIIF also recently announced the finalists for the 20th edition of the Australian Insurance Industry Awards, which honour notable achievements across a wide range of categories, including life and general insurance, broking, claims management, underwriting, and more.

The awards ceremony will take place on Aug. 22 at The Star in Sydney, featuring 14 categories representing different facets of the insurance industry.
Commenting on the latest Australian Insurance Industry Awards, Shanks remarked on the industry’s dedication to delivering high-quality customer experiences and advancing innovative solutions.

Additionally, ANZIIF had rolled out free weekly webinars to address key topics within the insurance and financial sectors, such as the concept of proximate cause, managing personal finances, and using AI in insurance.
