The Council of Australian Life Insurers (CALI) has welcomed Allianz Retire+ as its newest full member, increasing the organisation’s membership to 20.
The peak body said the addition highlights its steady growth since its formation 18 months ago.
CALI said the addition of Allianz Retire+ to its network of members aligns with its mission to ensure that the Australian life insurance sector is perceived as accessible, understandable, and trustworthy.
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Allianz Retire+ as a full CALI member. Our members are the driving force behind CALI’s continuous evolution as the leading voice of life insurance in Australia,” said CALI CEO Christine Cupitt (pictured above). “This milestone reflects the strength of our industry and our commitment to giving Australians peace of mind on their best and worst days.”
Allianz Retire+ CEO Adrian Stewart voiced his satisfaction with joining CALI.
“We are thrilled to join CALI and contribute to the advancement of the industry. Being a full CALI member provides us with a unique platform to engage with our industry peers, shape and advocate for policy reform, and drive positive change for all Australians,” he said.
Allianz Retire+ joined CALI after the appointment of Paul Reid as the peak body’s new industry representative for the Life Code Compliance Committee (LCCC).
Reid brings almost five decades of financial services experience, including nearly 40 years at KPMG and a recent role as a non-executive director at TAL Life Limited. He has also committed to various pro bono initiatives, such as the Chain Reaction Foundation, Assistance Dogs Australia, and St Lucy’s School.
“Paul is very well respected in our industry after excelling in high-level roles that have consistently strengthened the integrity of the industry and contributed to the way life insurers interact with their customers every day,” Cupitt said. “We are thrilled to have someone of Paul’s calibre representing our industry on the issues that matter most to the people we serve.”
The Life Insurance Code of Practice (Life Code), managed by CALI since last year, aims to ensure fairness, transparency, and accountability within the life insurance sector, imposing strict penalties for breaches. The LCCC industry representative plays a crucial role in maintaining these standards.
