Accident & Health International Underwriting (AHI), part of the Tokio Marine Group, has announced two leadership changes to enhance its management capabilities and market reach.
Anthony Halpin (pictured left) has been promoted to the newly created role of national underwriting and distribution manager, while Michael Gentile (pictured right) has joined as the southern region underwriting manager.
Halpin – who has worked in the accident and health insurance sector for more than 15 years, including the past eight years with AHI – will now focus on managing strategic relationships and key accounts across Australia.
“I’m excited to take on this senior leadership position,” Halpin said. “AHI is one of the largest Australian accident and health underwriting agencies, and I’m proud to lead a great team of underwriters as we continue to build strong relationships with our brokers and partners.”
Gentile will oversee underwriting operations in Victoria, Western Australia, South Australia, and Tasmania.
Previously a senior underwriter at AIG, he brings extensive experience in the accident and health insurance field to his new role at AHI’s Melbourne office.
Gentile said he looks forward to being a part of growing the business in the coming years.
“I’m honoured to join such a strong and high-performing team. AHI is ready for a bright future with its impressive portfolio and underwriting expertise, supported by an excellent in-house claims team,” he said.
John Dimos, head of sales and distribution partnerships at Tokio Marine Management Australasia (TMMA), the parent company of AHI, said that the appointments highlight AHI’s efforts to maintain its leadership position.
“With Anthony stepping into a national role and Michael joining us, our leadership team of experts in the accident and health sector is now even stronger. AHI has been operating for over 25 years, and these appointments highlight our dedication to growing our position as a leading specialist agency,” he said.
Another Tokio Marine Group business, World2Cover Travel Insurance, has been named a winner in two categories at the 2024 Canstar Awards, earning accolades for Outstanding Value International Travel Insurance and Outstanding Value Cruise Travel Insurance.
Gerard Levy Bensoussan, World2Cover’s national brand manager, said the team is pleased to reclaim the Outstanding Value Cruise Travel Insurance Award after its previous wins in 2017 and 2018.
“This award comes at a pivotal time as World2Cover expands its focus on the cruise market, aiming to provide our customers with enhanced peace of mind as they explore the world's oceans and seas throughout 2024 and 2025,” he said.
The Canstar Awards assess a wide range of travel insurance providers, with a focus on value and service. World2Cover has previously been recognised in categories such as senior and domestic travel insurance, reflecting its consistent performance in a competitive sector.
