Finlaysons Lawyers (Finlaysons) has bolstered its Darwin operations by introducing a new insurance law team, highlighting the firm’s strategic expansion in the Northern Territory.
Led by David Sweet as partner, the team also features Melissa Foster as special counsel and Tara Southgate as executive assistant.
This move is designed to expand the firm’s expertise in insurance law, with a special emphasis on personal injury cases.
Sweet brings to the team a wealth of experience in insurance law, accumulated over 30 years. His role is pivotal in driving the Darwin insurance team forward, leveraging his extensive background to deliver superior results for clients.
Foster, known for her strategic acumen and deep knowledge of insurance law – along with Tara Southgate, whose organisational prowess was described as crucial for the team’s smooth operation – round out the new additions.
With the insurance team having commenced their roles on February 5, Sweet said: “This is a very exciting time to be joining Finlaysons, and I’m looking forward to contributing to the growth of the Darwin office. It comes at a time when Finlaysons is about to celebrate 10 years in the Northern Territory and at a personal level, it also marks my return to the firm in which I commenced my career in private practice in Adelaide many years ago.”
Andrew Dyda, managing partner at Finlaysons, voiced his support for the new team, noting that their integration into the Darwin office strengthens the firm’s commitment to offering wide-ranging legal services throughout the Northern Territory.
“The partnership is extremely pleased to welcome David, Melissa, and Tara to our Darwin office and the broader Finlaysons team,” he said. “They will be an excellent addition to the firm’s existing insurance practice and provide additional strength to our rapidly expanding NT operations.”
Additionally, Dyda hinted at further expansion, with plans to unveil another new team soon.
