Major energy supplier Energy One has reported a cyberattack that affected its corporate systems in Australia and the UK.

In a statement to the Australian Stock Exchange, Energy One said it became aware of the cyberattack on August 18, 2023 (Friday). The company took immediate steps to limit the cyber incident's impact by engaging with cyber security specialists, CyberCX, and alerting the Australian Cyber Security Centre and certain UK authorities, Energy One said.

“Energy One's top priorities are the safety and security of its people, its customers, and its systems,” said Energy One board chairman Andrew Bonwick.

EOL disabled some links between its corporate and customer-facing systems to ensure customer security, the company said.

The company is set to continue to investigate and respond to the cyber incident, including identifying whether or what personal information and/or customer-facing systems have been affected and the initial point of entry.

“Energy One will continue to provide updated information as it gains greater clarity about the incident and the likely timeframe for its resolution,” Bonwick said.

Last week, Optimum Health Solutions also reported a cyber incident that impacted employee and patient data.
