ARTes Specialty, a managing general agent (MGA) specialising in bespoke insurance solutions, has joined forces with Mobius Insurance, a Steadfast Group broker, to roll out a new insurance product designed specifically for Australia’s commercial logging industry.

The policy combines coverage for material damage and liability and is backed by capacity from Lloyd’s syndicates.

Insurance for commercial logging market

The policy is structured to address the needs of logging operations comprehensively. Key features include:

  • material damage coverage limits of up to $5 million
  • third-party property damage and general liability limits of up to $20 million
  • coverage for commercial logging activities, including transportation, with optional extensions for dangerous goods

Amy Egglestone, a senior underwriter at ARTes Specialty with over a decade of experience in the sector, will lead the initiative.

Simplifying access to commercial logging insurance

Chris Thomas, CEO of ARTes Specialty, said the partnership aims to simplify the process for logging operators seeking insurance.

“The design and launch of this product with these Lloyd’s syndicates further demonstrates the confidence in ARTes to create solutions to complex insurance problems, where other markets have left policyholders to the uncertainty of trying to place multiple products in the open market, leading to inconsistency of cover,” he said.

Egglestone emphasised the product’s industry-specific design, which addresses the unique challenges faced by the logging sector.

“We have collaborated with market leaders to provide coverage tailored to the specific needs of this industry and ARTes is committed to offering its clients outstanding service from quote to claim. The logging industry is such a niche area of the market; it’s really exciting to be able to offer something unique to an industry that is so unique in itself,” she said.

Mobius Insurance’s facility manager, Peter Mason, noted that the product fills a gap in the Australian market.

“This is a niche yet important market in Australia, and operators in this space demand an insurance solution that is competitive, yet broad in cover. Service is paramount and Mobius will deliver this. We are excited to embark on the start of our journey with ARTes, whose values and ways align with ours,” he said.

ARTes Specialty operates as an appointed representative of Asta, a Lloyd’s managing agent.
