Suncorp Group is assuring its customers in the potential path of Cyclone Kirrily that dedicated teams are on standby to provide necessary support.
Simultaneously, ongoing efforts are in place to address customer claims in Far North Queensland impacted by ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper.
Lisa Harrison, CEO of consumer insurance at Suncorp Group, said the insurer's teams are prepared for a swift response. She emphasised the significance of safety for residents in the warning zones, urging them to follow the directives of emergency services and ensure their emergency plans are in order.
“As we saw with Jasper, the severity of the system was realised after the event due to the heavy rainfall and flooding which caused significant damage, and it's possible this could also be the case with Cyclone Kirrily,” she said. “We are closely monitoring the situation and have teams right across the country on standby to respond. Once it is safe to do so, we will be on the ground to support our customers.”
Harrison outlined the support that Suncorp's customer support teams will provide, including face-to-face assistance, emergency repairs, temporary accommodation arrangements for severely damaged homes, and support for emergency purchases.
“Like we were in Far North Queensland following Cyclone Jasper and South East Queensland following the Christmas storms, we will be there,” she said.

Post-event, Suncorp said impacted customers can find information on lodging claims and receiving support on Suncorp's Cyclone Support page. Online claim submissions for all insurance brands, including Suncorp Insurance, AAMI, Apia, and Shannons, are available for a streamlined process. Timely contact is emphasised to expedite the recovery process.
To facilitate cleanup and recovery, damaged homes can be accessed safely without waiting for an insurance assessor. Adequate ventilation is advised, along with the removal of wet contents while documenting damages through photographs and item lists, including model numbers.
In addition to insurance support, Suncorp Bank stands ready to assist customers affected by current weather events. Impacted customers are encouraged to prioritise their safety and contact Suncorp Bank on 13 11 55 to discuss available support options.
