Medibank chief customer officer Milosh Milisavljevic emphasised the company’s commitment to assisting customers through these difficult circumstances.
“Please give us a call if you have been impacted by the flooding in regional Victoria. Natural disasters have a significant impact on the lives of so many; we know this has been a tough Christmas and New Year period for a number of our customers, so we want to do our part to help them get back on their feet,” he said.
Medibank customers are also reminded of the Mental Health Phone Support line, available 24/7 at 1800 644 325. For inquiries related to hardship support, Medibank customers can contact 132 331, and ahm customers can reach out on 134 246.
In a parallel effort, RACQ has mobilised additional resources to aid its members in the aftermath of severe storms across South East Queensland.
With 7,350 insurance claims lodged between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, RACQ group CEO David Carter highlighted its increased capacity to handle calls and process claims.
“As at January 10, we’d received 6,342 claims for home insurance and 1,008 for motor following a series of destructive storms in South East Queensland,” he said. “We have increased our capacity to receive calls and process claims, emergency make-safe works are underway, and our team is working hard to organise temporary accommodation and emergency cash payments for members who need it.”
Members are encouraged to promptly lodge claims to expedite the repair process, with options to do so online or by calling 13 72 02. However, safety is still crucial.
“While lodging your claim is important, safety always comes first. Please do not take unnecessary risks by going outside or driving during dangerous weather events and call 000 immediately if you are experiencing an emergency,” Carter said. “If you haven’t already, also make sure your home is storm ready. Tie down or store away any loose items and outdoor furniture, keep your vehicles undercover when possible, clear your gutters, check your roof for any loose tiles or leaks, cut back trees, and move dead branches away from your house.”
In other news, insurers will offer additional assistance to affected customers in Far North Queensland through in-person consultations.
