Seasoned insurance leader Brett Wainhouse (pictured) has bid farewell to nearly a decade at Zurich New Zealand, marking the beginning of a new chapter.
Set to embark on a fresh journey, Wainhouse is slated to assume the role of Zurich’s state manager in Victoria, Melbourne, commencing in January 2024.
Wainhouse brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role, having navigated various facets of the insurance industry. He started his insurance career at Aon, where he was an account executive. His other roles before joining Zurich New Zealand included professional liability underwriter at Chubb, senior account manager at PYV, assistant vice president and principal at Marsh, and senior liability underwriter (corporate trading team) at Lumley Insurance.
Wainhouse joined Zurich New Zealand in June 2014 as an underwriting manager for financial lines and casualty. His other roles within the insurance giant included head of corporate underwriting and deal management, general manager for New Zealand, and his current role – regional manager for New Zealand.
In a statement on LinkedIn, Wainhouse thanked the Zurich New Zealand team and the brokers, customers, and competitors he has engaged with over the years.
“We have achieved a huge amount, worked extremely hard, shared both the highs and lows that only an insurance market can bring, but most importantly, we definitely had fun and shared a laugh or two along the way,” he said. “It would, however, be remiss of me not to thank all the amazing brokers, customers, and even competitors I have had the pleasure in dealing and interacting with over the years. It truly has been a pleasure.
“I am now very much looking forward to working with my new team in Australia and continuing to build on the great work and momentum Hamish MacLean has achieved.”
Wainhouse’s move to Australia follows Zurich Insurance Group’s appointment of its next group chief financial officer.
