Zurich is offering a helping hand to those impacted by the unprecedented horror bushfires devastating communities across Australia, with customers, employees, and distribution partners its immediate priority.
Not only is Zurich managing bushfire-related general and life insurance claims in an expedited and empathetic manner, but the insurer said its immediate bushfire crisis response also includes financial relief, charitable giving, and leveraging of its mental health program.
A two-month premium waiver is on offer until March 31 to all Zurich and OnePath life insurance customers who have been directly impacted by the fires or are volunteering in fire-impacted regions or are with emergency response teams, to the detriment of their own financial wellbeing.
Zurich is donating an additional $60,000 to the Red Cross, via its Z Zurich Foundation, bringing its bushfire donations to $100,000 to date. The company also pledged up to $500,000 in support of bushfire relief efforts, while donations the insurer received via the Red Cross will be 50% matched by the foundation.
Mental health support has also been made available to fire-impacted customers, financial advisers, employees, and the community as part of Zurich and OnePath’s MindFIT program.
Meanwhile, Zurich’s specialist claims teams have been mobilised to support customers.
“Over the long term, we will continue to assess how we can apply our resources and skills, and work as a part of Australia’s insurance industry, to address the aftermath of these bushfires, and to address the significant societal and environmental risk that climate change poses,” Zurich said.
