WTW has announced the appointment of Steven Torresan as the new head of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) for its financial, executive, and professional risks (FINEX) division across Asia Pacific (APAC) and Africa, effective immediately.

Torresan (pictured), who is based in Sydney, was previously leading WTW’s M&A practice for its Australasia business.

Before joining WTW, he worked as a lawyer at Norton Rose and co-founded Risk Capital Advisors (RCA), an M&A brokerage operating in Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. WTW acquired RCA in 2019.

In his new role, Torresan will work closely with:

  • Alex Keville, global head of M&A and private equity
  • Terence Montgomery, head of M&A, Asia
  • RCA co-founders Guy Miller and Andrew Stubbings, who will now jointly lead the M&A Australasia business within WTW’s FINEX division

Jeremy Wall, global head of FINEX, said the new team structure enables the company to use its global FINEX capabilities to enhance its client offerings locally and regionally.

“The new team structure allows us to leverage on our FINEX global lines of business whose team of financial, executive, and professional risk experts provide a wide range of specialist advice and services to companies in Asia Pacific. This further enhances our client offerings both locally and regionally as the team works alongside specialist experts across all WTW’s global lines of business to provide companies with market leading advice and insurance solutions to address their industry-specific risks,” he said.

Simon Weaver, head of APAC and corporate risk and broking for the region, said the change introduces an opportunity to expand the company’s capabilities.

“Drawing on our experience from more than 1,000 M&A and private equity transactions we support every year globally, the combination of our teams in Asia Pacific strengthens our value proposition for companies in this region, particularly clients who are involved in M&A activities domestically and internationally. We see an opportunity to invest and build out our capabilities to serve this market,” he said.

The leadership appointment for WTW’s FINEX division in APAC and Africa follows the appointment of new leaders for the company’s risk and broking division.
