The whole COVID-19 conundrum may have left intermediaries in the middle of the confusion surrounding coverage and claims – but for general insurance broker network behemoth Steadfast Group Limited, its remit remains crystal-clear.
“Our main job will be to help any clients that want to make a claim,” Steadfast Group managing director and chief executive Robert Kelly (pictured) told Insurance Business. “Candidly we’ve been telling clients to make a claim; we haven’t been saying ‘no’, not to make a claim and such.”
According to the CEO, Steadfast Group has approximately 100 active claims that are being processed at present. The number, Kelly said, is “not much more” compared to normal levels.
He asserted: “That’s not a lot. That’s just BAU (business as usual), I would think, from that point of view. So we will facilitate absolutely cleaning up those claims and getting the clients’ perspective well represented to the insurers.”
Meanwhile, another priority for the business is “to get some normality back” into its workforce that has been out of the office for nine months.
“I brought the executive team back in from November 10 to work Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday,” noted the MD, whose camp is opening up the Steadfast Group premises for other employees from the middle of December.
Kelly, who believes hybrid working is the norm moving forward, told Insurance Business: “Then we’ll work with the staff to try and see if we can put in a three-day-a-week in February, a three-day-a-week workforce that all comes to the office.”
Steadfast Group will then iron out the specifics for colleagues who wish to ensure that they can still work from home where it’s appropriate.
