The winner of the 2017 Valerie Baker Memorial Award was announced at an event held in Sydney last week.
Karen Hardy, of ACME Insurance Brokers in Tully, took home the award after fending off competition from three other worthy candidates.
Hardy, who was left speechless by her win, is the first winner of the award from regional Queensland as judges were left impressed with her 21 year track record in the industry and her commitment to her clients.
“Karen represents what is best about our business,” judge of the award Martin McAvenna said, summarising Hardy’s candidacy. “The mission of insurance in the broader community could not have been better articulated.”
Hardy will embark on an expenses-paid trip to London with an education experience tailored to her interest alongside meetings with underwriters and brokers in the London market and a chance to experience Lloyd’s of London and meet senior Lloyd’s managers.
“The nominees for this award keep getting better and better,”
Sheila Baker, managing director of
Gold Seal and a judge of the award said. “Bring on 2018’s applicants, we can’t wait.”
Other nominees for the award included Karyll Dean of
PSC Connect, John Farrell of
Steadfast Taswide and Maria Parry of Austcover.
