Life insurance specialist TAL has published its 2019 claims numbers.
TAL said it paid more than $2.3 billion to over 34,000 Australians and their families last year. According to the insurer, the statistics span the total number of claims paid by TAL Life Limited and Asteron Life & Superannuation Limited during the period.
Of all the claims paid excluding funeral insurance, 19% involved cancer; 14%, mental health conditions; 14%, injuries and fractures; 13%, musculoskeletal and connective tissue conditions; and 10%, conditions of the circulatory system.
Other reasons for claiming include conditions of the nervous system, respiratory system, and digestive system.
“Supporting Australian families through the claims we pay is the most important thing we do,” said TAL chief claims officer Jenny Oliver. “We’re immensely proud of this contribution and the help we provide to Australians when they need us most.”
