Suncorp Group has taken a significant step forward in fostering career opportunities for First Nations students in Australia by partnering with the non-profit organisation, Career Trackers.
This collaboration is at the heart of Suncorp's strategy to bridge the gap between university education and the corporate world for Indigenous students, aiming to cultivate a new generation of leaders from these communities.
The partnership with Career Trackers aligns with Suncorp's broader initiative to nurture an environment that values diversity and inclusivity, recognising these as essential for driving innovation and enhancing service delivery. By creating pathways for First Nations students into the corporate sector, Suncorp is actively contributing to a more diverse and inclusive workforce.
Since its inception in 2017, the partnership has successfully placed 19 First Nations students in internships across Suncorp's various business sectors, providing them with real-world experience during their university studies. These internships are not just about work; they offer mentorship, professional development, and the chance to make meaningful contributions to projects, all while fostering a supportive network that extends beyond the tenure of the internship.
“We've been delighted to welcome some talented individuals into our business over several years. I really appreciate the dedication the business has in providing a supportive environment so that our interns feel welcomed and finish their placements with increased knowledge and experience in their chosen field,” said Kelly Pfeffer, who leads the graduate talent program at Suncorp.
Suncorp is also among the insurers spearheading the launch of a mentorship program aimed at propelling women into top-tier roles.
