A new Suncorp campaign has been launched to encourage girls to stay in sport.

Suncorp’s Team Girls campaign, created in partnership with Leo Burnett and independent director Claudia Sangiorgi Dalimore, was developed on the back of a new Suncorp study which found that nearly half of Australian girls quit their sport by the age of 17, despite two-thirds acknowledging that sport can make them feel more confident.

“The latest Team Girls creative concept was developed to address the 2019 Confidence Report’s important findings surrounding today’s teens, as part of Suncorp’s ongoing commitment to change the score and keep young people motivated,” said Mim Haysom, Suncorp executive general manager brand and marketing, in an AdNews report. “Suncorp is proud to work with Netball Australia to encourage teen girls to continue to play team sport today and build more confident women tomorrow.”

The campaign features a combination of a rally cry voiced by 38 inspiring Australian teen girls and choreography that mimic pre-match motivational rituals to reinforce the teamwork, leadership, and confidence that result from playing team sports.

The campaign kicked off in a live, televised performance during half-time at the Suncorp Super Netball Melbourne Vixens versus NSW Swifts derby match at Margaret Court Arena and continues through the Suncorp Super Netball Season with a 60-second TVC featuring the Team Girls chant. Team Girls will also appear across social, AdNews said.
