Suncorp has mobilised its national resources, including support teams, assessors, and builders, to assist bushfire-impacted customers across New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania.
“Our immediate priority is to help our customers by making the claims process as simple as possible and ensuring they are aware of all the benefits they are entitled to, including temporary accommodation, emergency funds, and financial assistance,” said Steve Johnston, Suncorp Group CEO. “Affected homeowners are being given a dedicated client manager to provide a single point of contact to help make the process as smooth as possible.”
Suncorp teams have recently been deployed in Taree, Picton, and Lithgow, and will move into the Southern Highlands in NSW this week, and the South Coast and East Gippsland in Victoria when possible. Suncorp also has teams in South Australia’s Adelaide Hills region.
A specialist customer team had also been stationed at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre to help those who were evacuated from Mallacoota.
Suncorp said it has received more than 1,500 claims since the fires began in November, but the full impact will not be known for several weeks until areas are safe to access.
Johnston said a financial relief package has also been made available for impacted Suncorp Bank customers, offering them delayed repayments and flexible finance options.
Impacted customers of Suncorp and its insurance brands, including AAMI, GIO and Apia, are urged to lodge their claim as soon as it is safe. They may contact Suncorp on 13 11 55 or get in touch with their relationship manager for their insurance-related concerns.
