Victoria-headquartered Sportscover Australia (Sportscover) has boosted its physical presence in southeast Queensland by appointing Veronica Dawson as a senior underwriter, the company's first appointment in the area in over 10 years.
Dawson has extensive experience across numerous lines of business, including casualty, property, and financial lines. She is also a highly accomplished business development executive and well known in the broking market in southeast Queensland.
Dawson joined Sportscover this month from Ansvar Insurance Australia (Ansvar), where she worked as a senior underwriter specialising in risks related to aged, disability and childcare, faith, not-for-profit, and charitable association sector. She also underwrote public and product liability, including sexual abuse cover, industrial special risks, financial lines, and professional indemnity.
In her new role at Sportscover, Dawson – who shared that she looks forward to representing the company at the upcoming events in southeast Queensland – will work alongside Melbourne and Sydney branch managers Luke Grasic and John Torcasio. She will also report to underwriting manager Jarrod Bell.
Bell commented that having Dawson as a new team member in southeast Queensland will bolster the company's expansion plans in Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia while providing strong local support for brokers.
He added: “This is a significant step in our corporate strategy and an exciting appointment for Sportscover.”
