Specialist global insurer Hiscox has named Colin Buchanan as the company’s new divisional director of casualty for its London Market business.
As part of Hiscox’s London Market leadership team, Buchanan will manage a team of 14 experienced underwriters writing cyber, D&O and general liability. He will be based in London and will report to Hiscox London Market chief underwriting officer Paul Lawrence.
With more than 35 years of industry experience, Buchanan joins Hiscox from Starr, where he was most recently served as director and head of international casualty. Before that, he held several senior casualty positions in companies such as American International Group and AHAC Australasia.

The appointment comes after Hiscox named Liz Breeze as its interim group financial officer. Breeze most recently served as chief financial officer of Hiscox Re & ILS, and first joined the organisation in 2012.
