Specialist insurance law firm Sparke Helmore has appointed two new board members.
Belinda Michalk and Scott McDonald join Sparke Helmore’s board to work alongside current members Phillip Salem, Karwan Eskerie, and Mick Dwyer, as well as two non-executive directors, and chairman Andrew White in the delivery of the firm’s strategy “to become a market-leading Australian professional services business.”
Michalk, a partner in Sparke Helmore’ commercial insurance practice group, managing partner of the firm’s Perth office, and member of the firm’s diversity and inclusion committee, has been with the firm since 2002. She was listed in Best Lawyers in Australia for Insurance Law in 2019.
McDonald joined the firm in 2017 from DLA Piper, where he spent more than 30 years of his career in practice and management. He is a partner in the corporate and commercial practice group and a commercial litigator who acts for a range of large public and private corporations, government authorities, SMEs, and individuals engaged in commercial activities or exercising governance in a variety of sectors. McDonald is also a member of the firm’s diversity and inclusion advisory committee.
“Congratulations to Belinda and Scott on their appointments to the board,” said Phillip Salem, national managing partner. “I look forward to working closely with them as we look beyond our 2020 strategy toward the next phase of the firm’s growth. Belinda and Scott each bring distinct and complementary skills and expertise to the board, and I have no doubt their enthusiasm and commitment to the firm will prove invaluable.”
