She holds a Master of Public Health and a Doctor of Philosophy from Sydney University’s Faculty of Medicine, conducting research principally focused on the intersection between health, legal, and claims outcomes in a personal injury compensation policy setting.
Carmel Donnelly, chief executive of SIRA, said that she welcomed the appointment and the experience that Casey brings to the role.
“Dr Casey is an experienced executive who has worked across the government, personal injury insurance, disability, and life insurance sectors,” said Donnelly. “Her background in health and insurance has turned into a passion for ensuring personal injury schemes are designed and function to meet the needs of customers.”
Donnelly added that Casey “has been instrumental in leading a wide-ranging healthcare review of the $1 billion spent each year in SIRA’s personal injury schemes and she designed and implemented Australia’s first study to measure customer experience and outcomes in the schemes.”
“I’m confident that she will have continued successes as leader of the motor accidents insurance division,” Donnelly concluded.
