Sedgwick, a global provider of technology-enabled risk, benefits, and integrated business solutions, has expanded its executive team by appointing Derek Roberts as its new chief operating officer for Australia.
Roberts has more than 18 years of industry experience with expertise in global financial services. He is a qualified chartered accountant and has held various leadership, senior operational, and strategic roles in insurance organisations in Australia, Malaysia, South Africa, the UK, and the US.
In his new role, Roberts will oversee Sedgwick's operations and service delivery to customers and clients in Australia across multiple lines of business, including claims management, property, professional services, workforce absence, and compensation programs.
Commenting on his leadership appointment, Roberts said he will focus on driving efficiency within the business and consistent execution of the company's services.
“I look forward to working with Sedgwick's team of talented colleagues and drawing on my experience to help serve our clients through our innovative processes, robust technology offerings, and world-class service,” he said.
Sedgwick Australia CEO Diego Ascani said the latest appointment will further strengthen the company's operations as it implements its strategic growth plans in the region.
“Derek has a strong customer focus and has been instrumental in driving positive transformation for a number of organisations,” Ascani said.
Focusing on its Australian operations, Sedgwick recently combined its construction and engineering services teams in the country.
