Business development managers (BDMs) have long been regarded as ‘the broker’s best ally’ and it’s an allyship that brokers have needed more than ever during the strain and uncertainty of the last two years. Recognising the importance of this relationship, Insurance Business (IB) surveyed the market to uncover those 5-star BDMs that have best supported the broker market in Australia during 2021.
Revealed: IB’s 5-star BDMs 2021
The challenges of this year have not left the sector unmarked and IB’s report has highlighted that the overall average rating for BDM support took a hit this year. However, these times of adversity have revealed the strengths that go into being a great BDM, and the 100s of nominations received towards this list show a high level of broker satisfaction across four key criteria – customer service, responsiveness, communication and product knowledge.
To determine the top-performing BDMs, IB carried out extensive research, contacting 300 brokers across the nation to perform in-depth analysis into how BDMs have served the market over the last 12 months. From the 300+ nominations received, the list was then whittled down to 100 BDMs – with the 21 individuals rated excellent across all four of the above categories named 5-star BDMs for 2021.
Notable among this year’s winners are:
Craig Stanley
Business development manager, CHU Underwriting Agencies
James Rogers
Business development manager, GT Insurance
Jessica Jenkins
Relationship manager, Brooklyn Underwriting
Philippa Ryan
Business development manager, CHU Underwriting Agencies
