Revealed – Australia's top underwriting agencies for 2023

Insurance Business Australia (IB) has unveiled Australia’s top underwriting agencies for 2023 according to insurance brokers across the country.

More than 400 insurance brokers selected this year’s best underwriting agencies in the Australian insurance market based on key aspects of underwriting agencies’ service.

Most are repeat winners and are recognised for being consistently outstanding.

Methodology

IB identified this year’s best underwriting agencies by inviting brokers from across Australia to:

• rank their top three underwriting agencies across 16 major types of insurance;
• outline the top insurance products offered by underwriting agencies; and
• share their insights on whether turnaround times, product ranges, and pricing had improved or worsened over the past year.

As part of the winner selection process, brokers ranked the importance of key aspects of underwriting agencies’ service:

• coverage;
• overall service level;
• turnaround times for new business;
• turnaround times for claims;
• broker support;
• premium stability; and
• commission structures.

Based on broker feedback, IB calculated the top three winners for each type of insurance and awarded them with gold, silver, and bronze medals. The three insurance products that received the most votes from brokers were awarded the Brokers’ Pick medal.
